Prayer
Surgery Day-Sept. 28, 1998-5
9:27
I now await, on the physical plane, the words from the doctor. He has prepared us for the worst - but what can be tragic if we rest anchored in Thee. If we truly love Thee and lift ourselves to meet Thee on the summits of our being, we have nothing to fear. My faith is firm, I am in Thy hands. My prayer to Thee is to allow Mary Helen to make the greatest possible inner progress though this illness and I know that Thou hast heard my prayers and hers and that at all times do what is best for our souls. I thank Thee, Mother, always.
9:38 a.m.
I have said before, a thousand births and lives are insufficient to express my gratitude to Thee, O Lord, Sri Aurobindo, for the wonder of Thy gifts and the plenitude of Thy all-encompassing love. If Thou wilt hear again my voice as it calls to Thee, allow my prayer to arise pure and ardent, for the healing and inner progress of Mary Helen. Thou knowest my gratitude for Thy touch upon my earth-bound soul.
9:45 a.m.
Nearly two hours have passed since the surgeon told me they were about to begin. Day has dawned with heavy clouds and the possible promise of rain. I have prayed also for rain for it is the symbol of the Divine Grace descending and in these times of great upheaval we need its healing force.
I pray too for the healing of Mary Helen who so loves the body of the earth and its miracles of beauty and renaissance. May her health regenerate, O sweet Mother, and may we intensify our aspiration and surrender. We are ever in Thy hands.
